Copper Country: The board game
Currently under development, Copper Country is a new board game for mining fans. It brings players back to the year 1840 when America’s first mining boom is about to change the country forever.
Each player takes on the role of a mining company competing for copper. There are six mines, and players have to hire miners, build company houses and increase the efficiency and safety of their workforce. Just as in real life, disasters must be overcome. As the industry grows, so do the communities surrounding the mines. In the end, the winner is the player who has produced the most copper.
The idea for the game comes from David Lankton, who was inspired by hours spent playing board games at Christmastime with friends and family, including his father, a historian at Michigan Technological University, who spent many years researching the history of Copper Country.
