Educating Chile’s future miners
Sandvik plans to open two new offices in Chile. The facilities in Rancagua, near Codelco’s El Teniente copper mine, and in Calama will complement Sandvik’s three existing offices in Antofagasta, Copiapó and Santiago.
Sandvik is also partnering with El Teniente on education. Codelco, Chile’s state-owned copper mining company, suggested an initiative in which Sandvik will help implement mining-specific subjects during the last two years of study for students at two industrial high schools in Rancagua, about 40 kilometres west of El Teniente.
