Maximized safety & efficiency

As mines go deeper underground, the demand for safer, faster and more efficient hauling continues to increase. Sandvik presented two new additions to its underground truck family at MINExpo International 2012 to answer those needs.

The TH551 and TH663 underground trucks have been designed for state-of-the-art safety, higher productivity and increased overall hauling speeds to ensure high annual output. They feature massive hauling capacity per envelope size and will be available with up to Tier 4i-technology engines that boast high torque characteristics with low fuel consumption and low emissions. The trucks are engineered to work most productively with the LH517 and LH621 loaders.

“Innovative thinking, comprehensive research in the complete underground hard rock hoisting application and customer feedback have played a major role in the design process of these new trucks,” says Mark Ryan, product manager for Sandvik trucks.

The trucks feature more than 63 different safety features to protect operators, maintenance staff and the machines. The ergonomic cabin is 35 percent larger than predecessors.

The TH551 will be available in mid-2013 and the TH663 at the end of 2013.
