Sandvik delivers for Trafigura
Sandvik has delivered 21 DE710 drill rigs to Trafigura, the company’s first major transaction with the Dutch trading giant.
Alejandro Torino, Trafigura’s Logistics Manager, coordinated the purchase of the drills and was satisfied with the speed and efficiency of delivery.
The drills will be used for exploration in Angola, where iron ore mining in the Jamba municipal area of the country’s Huíla province is slated to be relaunched in 2013, as well as in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Sandvik shipped the first four drills from Chile to Angola in late 2011. Logistics services and transportation for the second batch of six drills were provided by DHL and air service company Polet Airlines (CJSC) of Russia, which furnished an Antonov An-124 cargo plane for efficient transportation of the machines. Another 11 drill rigs were shipped to Angola by sea from Chilean ports.
Sandvik Chile sold, manufactured and shipped more than 100 DE710 and DE740 drills to various companies globally in 2011.
